Here is a simple tutorial on how to tie a bow with a ribbon:

  • On each side of the ribbon, make two evenly-sized loops.
  • Cross the right loop over the left one.
  • Knot the loops by hooking the right loop behind the left one, under, and then up, going through the hole.
  • Make sure that the ribbon isn’t twisted or bunched up.
  • Pull the two loops into a smooth knot and then adjust the loops to perfection by trimming the tails so it is slightly longer than the loops.

Here’s a way to tie a bow on a gift:

  • Start off with a knotted ribbon.
  • In order to tie a bow on top of the gift box, loop the ribbon under the box and bring the ends together over the box.
  • Knot the two ends together to that they are equal in length.
  • Make a loop with the left side of the ribbon and hold the loop in place using your thumb and index finger.
  • Make a second loop, this time bringing the right side around and under the left loop.
  • Pull the loop until you have a second loop that is the exact same size of the previous one.
  • Tighten the bow by pulling on the loops.
  • Make sure that the loops are the same size and the ends are equally long.
