How to Cure a Sore Throat with Natural Remedies

Few things are as uncomfortable as a sore throat. Unfortunately, we all get them from time to time. Is it always worth a trip to the doctor when your throat is sore? If it’s accompanied by other symptoms, yes, but if it is the only thing wrong, you can try treating it at home with natural remedies to see if that helps before you make a trip to your primary care physician. Here are a few easy ways to cure your sore throat at home.

Drink Honey and Lemon

A glass of warm water with lemon juice and honey mixed in is great for your sore throat. It will help to relieve the scratchiness and the pain. Drink this periodically throughout the day to help yourself feel a little better. It’s an instantaneous type of relief, too, which is always helpful.

Drink Chamomile Tea

What it is about the chamomile that makes your throat feel better is a mystery to us, but doctors do recommend trying to drink a couple glasses of this each day to relieve a sore throat. It’s a fairly simple, but very effective method of sore throat relief.

Basil

When you start to feel as if your throat is getting sore, try boiling some water with a few fresh basil leaves. Once it’s finished boiling, gargle the mixture for a few minutes before spitting it out. It’s supposed to provide relief for a sore throat.

Cinnamon

Mix some ground cinnamon with a glass of warm milk. Drinking this is said to provide quick relief from a dry, scratchy, sore throat. The mixture is also a bit tastier than some of the other mixtures you can drink to relieve your pain.

Take a Hot Bath

Many people swear by this. Fill a bath with hot water and sprinkle some Epsom salt into the tub. It is supposed to give you some relief from your sore throat by spending a good 15 to 20 minutes soaking in there.
