DIY: Paint Swatch Calendar

In typical She Budgets’ fashion, I’m here to share a nearly free craft that will spruce up the kitchen or office without taking any weight off your wallet. See all those paint swatches that you can simple pull out the slots and stuff in your purse? Well, although we don’t suggest you high-tail it to the nearest Walmart and wipe them out, we do suggest you go to the nearest Walmart and pick out some of your favorite colors. Thanks to the Leila from Chicisms (and her crafty chic ways), we get to show you how to create a simple, erasable, reusable, adorable DIY calendar, all for under $5!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • a frame (The size of Leila’s is 13.5 x 17.5. Thrift one, buy one … inexpensive it the way to go with this craft!)
  • paint samples in colors you choose (Hello Walmart .. or any other hardware store that sells paints!)
  • poster board (in any color you wish your background to be)
  • glue
  • a straight edge, ruler and a pencil (to keep things straight!)
  • dry erase marker

Here’s what to do:

Step 1: Grab your colored paint swatches, a scissors and cut them to the size you need and want. Just make sure you know that you’ll need 7 colors to fit inside your chosen frame and they’ll be lined up going from left to right. You also need to fit you days of the week and info on the swatch.

Step 2: Grab your poster board, pick up your scissors again and cut it to the size of the frame. Them, glue your paint swatches to it, in any order you’d like! Get creative with this! Create a design, choose a certain color scheme or maybe even go¬† monochromatic!

Step 3: Once you’ve finished designing your calendar, place it inside your frame. Then, use a dry erase marker to label each day, date and month

I like to fancy myself a freelance creator, loving the pretty, the delicious and different. With a knack for fashion, style and a minor obsession with weddings, I've been professionally writing for the past few years and hopes to continue to explore different outlets to contribute to.
