A DIY Shoe Rack is the First Step Towards Closet Organization

Organization is the key to happiness. No one official said that, but we think that being organized is definitely one way to live a much happier life. Why? Because organization means you get to relax a little, enjoy a little and not live your life in a frazzled, stressed out mess of chaos. Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? One of the best things you can do for yourself is to get organized, de-clutter and start managing your life just a little bit. When you de-clutter just one area of your life, you’ll feel instantly better.

We’ve decided it’s time to start de-cluttering your life in your closet. Why? Because your closet is the place in which you begin your day choosing items to wear. If it’s a big mess in there, you’re going to stress yourself out before you even leave the master bedroom – and that’s never a good omen for the day. We have some simple tips that will help you organize your closet, from your clothes to creating your own DIY shoe rack to clean up a bit; and it’s all simple and inexpensive.

Downsize

If you haven’t worn it in one year, throw it away. If it’s too big or too small, throw it away. Don’t hold onto things in your closet just because they ‘might’ come back into style one day or you ‘might’ wear them again if you lose so much weight. Get rid of them. This goes for shoes and clothes, as well as handbags and accessories. It’s the first step to getting organized and staying happy in your life.

Organize Your Shoes

Here’s what you need to do; make a DIY shoe rack. It’s simple, really. Just head to Lowes or Home Depot and pick up a few inexpensive shelves from the closet section and stack them on top of one another in your closet. You now have shelves on which you can store your shoes and your shoe boxes, and it probably cost you only a few dollars to do it.

Organize by Season and Color

When everything in the same color is together, it makes finding clothes very simple. Additionally, when those clothes and shoes are arranged by season, it also makes it less difficult to find what you’re looking for. You’ll automatically know where to find all your blue winter clothes off the top of your head, no need to go around looking for items throughout the entire closet and getting lost and overwhelmed.
