There are some people that love wallpaper, and there are those who think it’s too far outdated to be worth their time. While it’s certainly not the most popular form of decorating, wallpaper is appropriate at times, and sometimes homeowners want to add a bit of paper to the wall to add a bit of ambiance. However, most people don’t know how to properly wallpaper a house. Here are a few tips that will help you out.

Before you start to apply wallpaper to your walls, you will need to pick up the supplies you need. In addition to the wallpaper of your choice, you will need wallpaper sizing, a paint roller, a pencil, wallpaper paste, a sharp knife, and a soft sponge.

The first step is three steps in one. You’re going to want to start the process of applying wallpaper to your walls by first applying wallpaper sizing with a paint roller to the walls and allowing it to dry. You will then want to draw your layout line so that you know where to start and finish. When you do this, it’s time to start your papering. Start by using a paint roller to apply wallpaper paste to the back of your paper.

Fold and roll your wallpaper, and take it to the wall. You’ll place the unfolded upper portion of the paper to the wall and allow the end to hang over the ceiling. Using a sharp blade, cut the wall paper at the ceiling and around all windows, doors, and trim; continue until you are completely finished. You’ll want to peel the trimmed paper from the walls and then use a damp sponge to clean the wallpaper so that no paint is left on it.

Once you finish this step, you are finished with the process.
