A Delicious and Almost Entirely Homemade Apple Pie Recipe

apple pie

It’s not apple pie season, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make this absolutely delicious dessert right now and enjoy it like it’s Thanksgiving all day long. We love apple pie in our house, and I have an apple pie recipe that will knock your socks off. I’m going to be quite honest with you, however, and tell you that I long ago stopped making my own crust in favor of a premade crust since the time is so much shorter when you use this method. I like a homemade crust, but it’s just a lot of work and a huge effort. Because of those, we thought we’d shared with you a very quick, simple, delicious and almost entirely homemade apple pie recipe. It’s as good as it gets, and we just love to eat this pie in our house. We live for the holiday season when it’s a constant fixture in our homes.

What You Need

8 Granny Smith Apples

2 Cups Sugar

¼ cup cinnamon (ground)

3 tbsp. nutmeg

Salt to taste

Pie crust of your choosing

All you have to do is core, peel and cut your apples into small slices. They should be no more than an inch in any direction, and they should be cut just in time to go in a bowl. Once you have the apples in the bowl, you will then add the rest of your ingredients to the dish and mix it all up until it looks good and mixed. Pour the apples into the pie crust you chose and back your pie with foil around the edges for 40 minutes, remove the foil and bake it for another 10 minutes to prevent browning. Some people like their pie served cold, but we love ours warm with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top.
