Make A Pot Of German Potato Soup To Keep You Warm On A Cold Day

German Potato Soup  is one of our family’s favorite soups to have on a cold day because it warms you up and keeps you full because it is a hearty and filling meal.  We also call German Potato Soup by Cheesy Potato Soup because it is indeed, cheesy.  This is a savory meal that feeds our family of four for two days.  I serve it with fresh baked bread and butter or if I am in a pinch, any kind of crackers.

German Potato Soup Ingredients:

5 cups of cubed potatoes, 1 cup of chopped celery, 1 cup of chopped carrots, 1 cup of chopped onions, 2 chicken bouiloon cubes, 1 can family size cream of chicken soup, 1 lb of cubed Velveeta cheese and 2 bags of bacon bits.

Combine the chopped celery, chopped carrots and chopped onions in a pan.  Add chicken bouillon cubes and bring to a boil.  Simmer for 20 minutes while you peel and cube the potatoes.  Add potatoes and cook until potatoes are tender.  Add cream of chicken soup and cubed Velveeta cheese and stir until all the cheese is melted.  Serve bacon bits as a garnishment on each individual bowl of German Potato Soup so that each person can customize the amount of bacon bits that they would like to have.

This meal will fill you up and meet your craving for something savory and salty.  German Potato Soup is the perfect warm meal to fill you up on a cold day.

I got this recipe from a friend and have made it many times to feed my family and also to take to dinners and get togethers.  German Potato Soup is always a fabulous hit and I have had many requests for this very recipe.

If you want to keep with the German theme, try serving German chocolate cake in addition to your German Potato Soup.  Your family will appreciate you for it.
