Become A More Optimistic Person And Reap Benefits For Better Health

Some of us are born with sunny, optimistic personalities and others are more like Eeyore off of Winnie-the-Pooh; we are dull, drab and downright negative.  There is good news, though.  Just because you were born with one personality trait does not mean you have to stay that way.  You can become a more optimistic person.

If you want to be more optimistic than you need to try to change your thought patterns.  Instead of dwelling on the negative things in your life, think about all of the positive ones.  Try to turn your negatives into a positive.  For example, rather than complaining about how bad your food was at your last meal out was, concentrate on the fact that you had a warm meal that filled your tummy and you did not have to cook.

Smile more.  This sounds so simple that you have trouble believing it will help you to  be more optimistic, don’t you?  But the truth is if you smile more than you feel happier and become happier.  It is a fake it till you make it strategy.

Strive to spread kindness.  When you are kinder you will find that you feel more optimistic.  Kindness also breeds kindness.  In other words, if you are kind to others you will find they are often kind in return which makes for a happier and more optimistic day.

Remind yourself that worrying does not help anything and looking on the negative side does not help anything.  Half of the things we worry about never come to be.  On the other hand, if we are thinking optimistic thoughts we will find that they often work out that way.

People that are optimistic have better health and live longer.  In addition they are just happier which should be motivation enough to try to be optimistic.  Who doesn’t want to be healthier and happier?
