With all the different various diets out there, it seems like many of these diets are all just fads that tend to fade out after it’s been discovered that they don’t actually work and/or until the next “big thing” comes along. From Paleo to gluten-free to sugar-free to low calorie, there are just so many different eating habits to jump quickly from one to the other these days. While many of these diets are designed to lose weight, there is one diet out there that just may be the perfect one for you: the anti-inflammatory diet. Just like it sounds, this diet helps to reduce inflammation by eating the right foods – in essence, eating foods to help heal your body naturally!

The anti-inflammatory diet is quite similar to the Mediterranean diet, with the former focusing on consuming pure fruits and vegetables, as well as all kinds of varieties of fish. Waiting for food high in Omega 3 fatty acids can get pretty exciting here –  as well, as other anti-inflammatory healthy-fats, like avocado. Doing the diet, it has had some cardiovascular benefits.

The anti-inflammatory diet, which is not your conventional diet, is made up of healthy, wholesome, and unprocessed foods. It’s not even really a diet as it is more of an eating plan to be implemented for life. Developed by Andrew Weil, the diet reflects the Harvard-educated doctor’s belief that certain foods can cause chronic inflammation, which can ultimately lead to serious conditions, including heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s.
