Benefits Of Taking A Vacation We Don’t Often Consider

We all love a vacation but do we truly realize the importance of them ?  It turns out taking a much-needed vacation from your day-to-day routine is a healthy and productive practice.

When you work long hours at your job you risk experiencing burnout.  Vacations give you a respite from the daily grind and let you refresh yourself mind, body and soul.  It is a break from the norm that allows your mind to relax and concentrate on something often neglected, yourself.  After a vacation, individuals return to work renewed and ready to concentrate.

A vacation is good for a couple.  Time is a commodity we don’t have enough of in today’s world and vacations are a way to reconnect both physically and mentally.  It is nice to have a reminder of why you fell in love with each other in the first place.

A vacation is good for a family, as well.  Our kids are growing up in a world more technologically advanced than anything we could have dreamed of as children.  We find ourselves texting our kids messages to take out the trash or brush their teeth.  Yes, it’s funny but admit it, you’ve done it too.  A vacation is an opportunity to spend real face time together.  Time to see and do things together, to talk, discuss things that matter and find out what is really going on in your kids lives.  Plus, you are making memories your kids will always carry with them throughout life and look back on fondly.

A vacation is a time when we often take stock of our life as well.  We may not outwardly realize it but we often reflect on the past year; where it has brought us from and where it has us headed.  Are we content in our job?  What are our goals?

The fringe benefits of a vacation are many and worthwhile of being considered.  Although we hardly need them to convince us how wonderful a vacation is.
