Sore Throat Remedies To Soothe Your Child’s Sore Throat Fast

Sore throats are a common childhood ailment that most children contract several times a year.  They can be caused by any number of things; allergies, sleeping with their mouth open, colds and other illnesses.  While some sore throats can be severe and need to be treated by a doctor, there are sore throat remedies you can try at home first to see if you can help soothe your child’s sore throat.  If the sore throat persists more than one to two days, you should consult your pediatrician.

Of course, you can try Children’s Tylenol and Children’s Advil for their pain.  You can alternate these two medications as long as you don’t give them any more often than recommended on the instructions and you space the two medications at least two hours apart from one another. Of course, you should make sure this is acceptable with your pediatrician’s recommendations.

Hot drinks are great sore throat remedies.  Hot tea, spiced apple cider and hot chocolate are hot beverages that children usually like.  In addition, cold treats such as ice cream and popsicles can feel good on sore throats.

Other sore throat remedies to try are peppermint or horehound candy.  If your child can’t eat hard candy yet, you can crush it and let them have the crushed pieces to eat.  Gargling hot salt water can help to soothe a sore throat if your child is old enough to understand how to gargle

Salty foods are great sore throat remedies.  Pretzels, potato chips and salty cracker snacks feel good.  Salt has healing properties.  Also, chicken soup or chicken noodle soup are good sore throat remedies.  It is the combination of the heat and salt that feels good.  Experts even agree that there is something about chicken soup that helps you to get well.

Of course, these sore throat remedies can be used by adults too.
