Five Ways You Can Stay Fit While Parenting

Being a parent means you already have to work harder to stay in shape; and it’s not that difficult to do so. Sure, you have some baby weight since having a baby, but you can get rid of it with ease if you are dedicated to making positive lifestyle changes. One such change is making sure you are doing what you can to eat right. Skip snacking on unhealthy meals and pick good, healthy foods. And then you can work out a bit more. Parenting doesn’t mean you have to give up on yourself or how you look and feel – no matter what you might otherwise think about that. Parenting just means you have to be a little more creative figuring out a way to do the things you want to do. It’s not as difficult as it seems, and we can help you figure out how to get fit and exercise while you’re with the kids. Our ideas are fun, so we’ll go ahead and take credit for that.

Walk the Mall

If your kids are the kind that only nap when they are in their stroller or car seat, take them to the mall and do some laps. The key here is to skip the food court and the shopping and stick to the exercise portion.

Play a Game

Your kids are small, and we bet they like to play tag or red rover or something to that effect. So get outside and let them run around while you run around with them. It’s a fun concept, and anyone can do it.

Get Active Outside

Your kids probably love to be outside, so take them swimming, take them for a walk or challenge them to a game of football, baseball or whatever while you are out in the yard. You’re having fun, parenting and doing something you all enjoy – so it doesn’t feel like exercise. It also gets the kids active, which is always nice.

Coach a Team

This is what I do; I coach my daughter’s cheerleading squad. And unlike some of the other coaches, I don’t sit on the sidelines and watch – I run with them. I cheer with them, I stunt with them and I involve myself. It’s parenting and exercise all in one, and it’s awesome.

Take Time to Yourself

You are a parent; that doesn’t mean you can’t take time to yourself every so often. If you need a half hour or an hour a few times a week to hit the gym or take a jog, do it. You’re the boss and you make the rules, so go for it.
