Simple Ways To Get More Out Of Your Daily Walk

A daily walk is one of the best things that you can do for your health.  It helps to keep your body in good physical shape and promotes good health.  But even though you love your daily walk sometimes it doesn’t feel like it is quite enough of an exercise routine and you want a little more.  There are several things that you can do to get more out of your daily walk.

Try wearing leg weights to add to your endurance.  You can start with a very small amount and work your way up as you wish.  Or try using hand weights and get your arms into the action.  Ideally, you should be swinging your arms as you walk, anyways.  Adding some weights will help to tone your arms as you get your cardio.

Try some circuit training.  This means that you walk for an amount of time and then you jog for an amount of time to keep things switched up.  These little bits of higher intensity cardio will really help you to pump up your heart rate for the best workout.

Buy a pedometer.  Wearing a pedometer will help you to have a better picture of the walking you are actually putting in.  You may not be walking as far or as many steps per day as you think that you are.  A pedometer will help you to know exactly how many steps you are logging.

Take a break from your daily walk to squeeze in some push-ups against a park bench or add in other strengthening exercises.  Be sure to walk the same amount of time and distance.  This isn’t a suggestion to take the place of part of your walking time but to enhance it.
