Tips to Help you Keep Your New Diet on Track

Dieting is no fun, which is why we prefer to eat healthy and only binge on occasion. It’s far better than a constant diet in terms of still enjoying life. However, some people need to diet. And we all do it from time to time. More people than ever are dieting right now, especially considering the fact that it is a New Year and we’ve all made resolutions to get fit and stay healthy; and eat better, healthier food. So now that we are all dieting and all prepared to stay on track for the rest of the year, and the rest of our lives, everyone else is saying it’s going to be all of a week before we give up. So most people do give up their resolutions before too long, but that doesn’t mean we have to be part of the pack. In fact, we can keep our resolutions because we are determined and strong-willed and smart people with a lot to offer, and we have some tips that will help all of us stay on track.

Take it a Day at a Time

Don’t focus on tomorrow or the next day or next week. Just focus on right now. Focus on making good eating choices at this particular moment in time and don’t worry about dinner until dinner. Don’t worry about tomorrow until tomorrow. Focus right now and it’s much easier to stay on track.

Don’t Beat Yourself Up

You ate a piece of birthday cake or indulged in a little ice cream you wish you hadn’t. It happens, and the worst thing you can do is beat yourself up over it. Let it go. It happened, and now it’s in the past. You can’t change it, and being guilty and mad at yourself for it is not going to change the fact that it did, in fact, happen. So let go, move on and refocus on doing better next time.

Don’t Binge

Back to that piece of cake you ate at that lunch party at work. You didn’t feel good about it, but it’s not a good idea to shrug your shoulders and assume the day is a waste so why not eat whatever you want and re-start your diet tomorrow. Keep at it. You’ll feel much better tomorrow if you don’t give up today.

Focus on How You Feel

How good does it feel when you wake up the morning after a healthy day? You feel refreshed and healthy and good about yourself. Focus on that feeling. Isn’t that something you’d like to feel more often? I know I like that feeling. Focus on that and it will make the dieting path all that much simpler.
