Eliminate Up to 500 Calories a Day the Easy Way

Calori

Calories are life’s biggest enemy. No matter who you are, what you look like or what size you wear, you think about calories at some point in time, probably at least once a day. You might think of calories as the enemy because they’re all that stands between you and your skinny jeans (not, of course, that beautiful giant cookie from the bakery and the latte with the extra whipped cream…just the calories). Fortunately, we can take control of our life and stop thinking about calories so much by making three simple changes to our lives that will deduct as much as 500 calories per day from our diets.

Smaller Portions

When you go to a restaurant and see something you want to eat, ask for the lunch size portion or appetizer portion. Not only is this a great way to save a few dollars, it’s a great way to eat a normal sized portion. In fact, your lunch or appetizer portion is still probably larger than the recommended serving size. However, it’s a lot smaller than the dinner portion.

Forgo Dressing

When ordering salads, ask for dressing on the side even if you’re ordering one that’s particularly healthy. Even the healthiest of dressings are usually globbed onto salads in restaurants and cafes, providing you with far too much. Instead, ask for it on the side so you can control the portion that’s going onto your salad, saving yourself a bunch of calories in the process.

Drink Water

Why more people don’t drink more water is beyond me. It’s refreshing and tastes delightful. You can even add to it by adding slices of cucumber or lemon or even lime. It’s delicious. It’s also calorie free and healthy. You need water to survive, yet far too many people choose to drink carbonated beverages instead. It’s a bad habit. Save the calories and your health; drink the water.
