Five Reasons Why Soda is More Unhealthy Than You Think

These days, drinking soda has become just as routine as drinking water. While we know that drinking the sugar-laden carbonated refreshment is not healthier than actually taking in some quality H2O, we tend to not realize that drinking soda pop is actually pretty bad – and yes, that includes diet soda! For starters, water hydrates your body and is great for your body in general, while soda dehydrates you and has been proven to be a dangerous habit.

Here are five reasons why soda is more unhealthy than you think:

1. Soda contains high fructose corn syrup; the process of making high fructose corn syrup involves traces of mercury, causing a plethora of health problems.

2. Drinking soda on a regular basis causes plaque build up on your teeth, which can lead to cavities and tooth decay with a pH level almost as acidic as battery acid, as well as gum disease.

3. Danish researchers have discovered that drinking regular soda can leads to major increases in fat build up around the belly, in and around liver and other vital organs, which can also contribute to diabetes and resistance to insulin.

4. If you think diet soda is any better, think again! The artificial sweeteners in diet soda are horrible for the human body: they don’t break down in our bodies and they also pollute the water supply, putting living organisms at risk and contaminating our water supply.

5. Sodas like Coca Cola, Pepsi and other soda brands contain caramel coloring made with ammonia, which has been linked to cancer in mice.
