Four Stress Fighting Foods

You woke up late, you got stuck in traffic, you forgot your phone at home, and you have to have dinner with your husband’s boss and her husband tonight; and you’re having the worst hair day ever. If that’s not stressful, I don’t know what is. If only there were some super power that would eliminate stress and make every single day perfect. Yeah, right. Since there obviously isn’t a magical solution to eliminate stress, we all take what little help we can get. Here are a few foods that help to lower stress levels after consumption; I say we all incorporate them into our diets, stat.

Asparagus

This slender veggie is full of folate, which is an ingredient that helps you keep yourself calm, cool, and collected. Have them with dinner, add them to a salad, or just munch on them throughout the day to eliminate stress.

Avocados

These little fruits are full of so many good things that the list just keeps going and going. These ingredients block absorption of fats that cause oxidative damage and make you stressed out.

Berries

Blueberries are full of antioxidants that help to improve cognition. All berries, however, are full of antioxidants that help to fight stress, improve memory functions, and lower blood pressure.

Cashews

These tiny, salty little nuts are full of zinc, which is an ingredient that helps to fight stress, depression, anxiety and a number of other negative feelings.

Add these foods into your diet to help relieve stress. Additionally, if you make sure to get 30 minutes per day of exercise and spend a little time in the sun, you’re sure to lower your stress levels significantly. Exposure to sunlight and exercise help to release good endorphins in the brain that help you to function in a happier, healthier mood.
