How You Relax Could Actually Be Bad for Your Health

Your way of trying to relax could actually have the opposite effect on your body and mind. How sad is it to realize that all the things you do for your own peace of mind and sanity are actually worse for you than the things you are trying to relax after dealing with? Unfortunately, some of the best things in life are the worst things in life (I know, if it’s too good to be true…) and you’re wrecking your ability to relax and even to live a happy life.

Wine

A nice glass of wine at the end of a long day is the answer to, well, everything. Except, of course, your ability to sleep well and to feel good. Wine is a depressant. It can make you feel good while you’re drinking it, and you might even relax a little, but in the long run, it’s not helping you at all. Added to that, too much wine could cause a number of other health problems, as well as a potential for addiction.

Lazy Days

With such a busy schedule, sometimes a lazy day is the perfect way to relax, right? Wrong. Being lazy is so bad for your health, even if it’s just for one day. When you don’t get active, your body is not releasing any endorphins into your body. Endorphins are feel good chemicals that boost your mood and make you feel better. You need to get up off your chair and get moving.

Staying In

While it might be nice to stay inside all day long to relax, it’s really bad for you. Your body needs natural sunlight to produce the kinds of chemicals you need to feel good. Without these chemicals, you are living a life that isn’t exactly full. It’s okay to stay home and hide from the world from time to time, but make sure you get up and get out. Try taking a walk or going for a run.
