Football season is in full swing, which means chicken wings are also in full swing. You’re probably eating more wings on the weekends this time of year than any other and with playoff season in the works, you’re going to eat a lot more, aren’t you? It happens, and it’s okay. We all love a good chicken wing, but we need to be careful about how many we’re eating, especially when we’re ordering wings from Buffalo Wild Wings. It’s one of the most famous wing restaurants in the country, but the restaurant is quickly making you fat.

How so? The nutrition in any given order of wings at Buffalo Wild Wings is less than ideal. Unfortunately, most people have no idea what they’re doing to their bodies when they eat wings. They’re chicken, so they must be healthy. They’re wings, so it’s a small portion. And they’re good, so what’s bad about that? All common misconceptions we all live with. Want to know what you’re really eating when you order wings at Buffalo Wild Wings? We think you probably don’t want to know, but you need to.

The Calories are Unbelievable

Most chicken recipes use big pieces of chicken but contain few calories. Not Buffalo Wild Wings, however. These chicken recipes are bad for all of us. One 50-count order of wings here is going to contain approximately 5330 calories. That’s almost 107 calories per wing. PER WING. That’s right, you read that correctly. You could have three chicken wings from here or you could order a grande skinny eggnog latte at Starbucks and enjoy that. It’s really mind-blowing.

To Burn Those Calories

If you eat an order of 50 wings, you’re going to need to do a lot of walking or running to burn that off. In fact, you’d have to walk for approximately 24.6 hours nonstop at a moderate pace – without consuming anything else – to burn off 50 wings. You’d have to jog for a little over 10 hours to burn off those calories. And if you’re sitting here thinking you’d never eat 50 alone, even eating just 20 means you’d consume 2132 calories and need to walk for about 10 hours to burn them off. It’s a lot of time and effort.

The Effects On Your Health

One pound is equal to 3,500 calories; and an order of 50 wings has way more than a pound worth of weight gain on one plate. It’s pretty interesting just how many calories there are in wings, but the sauce is what kills you. Of course, the fried part doesn’t help either, but it’s the fact that you could gain one solid pound – close to two – eating wings in one sitting. Additionally, this order of wings has more than 388% of your daily recommended sodium and more than 427% of your daily recommended cholesterol intake. Essentially, ordering this selection of wings is going to kill you.
