Prevent the Urge to Eat Late at Night for Better Health

Late night snacking

It’s so easy to mindlessly snack or eat something when you’re sitting on the couch relaxing after a long day at work. The kids are asleep, the house is clean and it’s time to catch up on the lives of your favorite real housewives or dancing stars. But it seems you can’t sit there and mindlessly watch television without doing something with your hands, so you grab a snack or beverage. Whatever you’re noshing on, it’s not good for you. If you eat late at night it’s horrible for your metabolism and your overall health. Here’s how to stop.

Have a Healthy Dinner

If you deprive yourself during the day or you don’t eat something that’s both healthy and filling at dinner, you’re going to be hungrier later. Do yourself a favor and make sure your dinner is both nutritious and filling and you’ll find that it’s much easier to avoid eating later in the evening.

Go to Bed

Instead of staying up too late watching television or reading that new book, go to bed at a reasonable time. It’s a surefire way to help prevent you from eating late and night and killing your body. It’s also a great way to ensure that you are getting plenty of sleep, which is essential to anyone who wants to live a healthy lifestyle. Try going to bed at the same time every night, not varying your times more than a half hour in either direction.

Keep the Bad Stuff Out

If you haven’t the willpower to prevent mindless late night eating, don’t buy things that are easy to snack on. Keep junk food and other unhealthy options out of the house. If it’s not there to eat, you can’t eat it. And trust me; you are going to debate running to the corner store and picking up a quart of ice cream at 10 pm, but your makeup-less face, messy ponytail and pajamas are going to win out and you’re not going to do it.
