A Simple and Quick Guide on How to Meditate

meditate

Meditation is a great way to help you relax and to help you become more aware of yourself and your body. It’s not that easy, however, for those who have never done it before. It requires a little patience, a little concentration, and a little skill. This simple but comprehensive Beginners Guide to Meditate can help you learn to meditate the easy way.

Find the Right Place

Location, location, location; it’s not just the rule for buying a home. You need to find the right location in which to meditate as well. This means finding a quiet location where there are no distractions. You don’t want to hear the television or the kids, or even the neighbors laughing in their yard. You need to find somewhere to sit quietly and without interruption for a good 15 minutes. Good luck.

Sit Correctly

The best way to sit is to sit with your legs crossed Indian style the way you did in elementary school (Just remember: Criss cross apple sauce). The next thing you must focus on is the natural curve of your back. This is not the time to practice poor posture.

Breathe

The next part of meditation is to breathe deeply and slowly. Do this with your eyes closed. Breathe in slowly with your nose and exhale through your mouth. Don’t force it or rush it. Let it happen with ease. As you continue to breathe, you will notice that you are more and more aware of your body and your surroundings. The birds will seem louder, the breeze more prominent, or the quietness of your house all the more noticeable. This is good. You need to focus, and this lets you know you’re succeeding.

Focus on your breath. In and out. Do this for a good 15 to 20 minutes each day and you will be astounded at how relaxed and happy you suddenly feel. When you’re done meditating, simply open your eyes and stand slowly. Feel free to stretch or take a few minutes to get back to reality.
