Three Foods that Fight Arthritis Pain

Arthritis causes pain, swelling, and stiffness in the joints. The joints normally affected by arthritis pain are the hips, wrists, knees, or the spinal cord. Changing your diet and eating the right foods may not get rid of arthritis pain completely, but certain foods may ease the pain caused from it. Recent studies show people who have cancer and heart disease also have arthritis. Improving your diet may help fight arthritis pain and help fight other health conditions too.  Here are three foods that fight arthritis pain.

Fruits

Apples and grapes contain a mineral called boron that reduces the chance of developing arthritis and help relieve pain for people who already have it. Fruits with high amounts of vitamin C, like cantaloupe, papaya and mango help control free-radicle harm that contributes to arthritis. Fruits that contain high amounts of beta-carotene have been shown to help fight arthritis pain. Oranges, peaches, plums, and watermelon are some examples of beta-carotene sources. Add orange juice to your morning which contains beta-cryptoxanthin. Beto-cryptoxanthin helps fight arthritis by preventing swelling in the joints.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Studies have shown eating foods with omega-3 fatty acids on a regular basis, may help fight arthritis pain and inflammation. The highest omega-3 source include fish from cold water such as salmon. Warm water fish does not contain the same amount of omega-3 fatty acids as cold water fish. Studies show the mineral, selenium, found in fish helps fight and decrease arthritis pain. Unsalted nuts like brazil nuts, almonds, and sunflower seeds are also rich with Omega-3 acids.

Dark Green Vegetables

Eating dark, leafy, fresh green vegetables have large amounts of vitamin K in them. Vitamin K repairs joint tissue and cartilage in the body and can prevent joint deterioration. Experts suggest eating at least one serving a day of dark green vegetables. Kale, spinach, and other collard greens are examples of dark green vegetables to eat that help fight arthritis.
