Trick Your Mind to Eat Less to Feel Better

Let’s face it; every woman wants to be able to eat what she wants and not gain weight (or destroy her good health). However, it’s just not possible for the vast majority of us. The problem, it seems, is that we just keep eating. We eat things that aren’t good for us (because they taste better) and we eat more than we should (because we can’t tell the difference between bored and hungry) and we just keep eating. The more we eat, the more we dislike ourselves. Since it seems to be such a problem, we need to learn to eat less. Here are a few simple tips that will keep you out of the kitchen.

Drink More Water

When your body is dehydrated, it makes it exceptionally difficult to tell the difference between hunger and thirst. So naturally, we reach for food. By taking in several 8 oz. glasses of water each day, we make sure we stay hydrated and less hungry. You’ll find that you head to the pantry a lot less throughout the day when you keep yourself hydrated. Shoot for a glass of water every hour, even if you don’t feel thirsty.

Eat Slowly

Instead of tossing back a granola bar on the run, take your time to sit down and eat slowly. Enjoy every bite, chew it up and you’ll find that you eat a lot less because you feel fuller longer. The key here is not to try and eat your meals as quickly as possible, but to take your time and savor them.

Buy Smaller Plates

You know those plates that are described as dessert plates because they are a quarter of the size of your dinner plates? Eat off of those plates. Make those your dinner plates and your helpings will shrink significantly. This will make it easier for you to trick your body into feeling fuller faster.
