Easy and Funny Elf on the Shelf Ideas To Make Your Kids Smile

Whether it’s the most wonderful time of the year or not, Elf on the Shelf is always a fun tradition no matter what time of year it is! If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a 2005 picture book for children that tells a Christmas-themed story explaining just how Santa Claus knows who has been naughty and who has been nice. The elves visit kids in between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, and then return to the North Pole until the holiday season comes again. The Elf on the Shelf book also comes with a small toy pixie scout elf. For the holiday season, many families with kids will put Elf in interesting scenarios and predicaments. In fact, there’s even a website that looks and asks for your family’s best Elf on the Shelf ideas.

Here are some easy and funny Elf on the Shelf ideas to make your kids – or the kid in you – smile:

Super Hero Elf – Just in time for Halloween, Elf is saving the day! Give Elf a blue felt cape and attach the Superman “S” symbol on the back of the cape as well as on his chest. Outstretch his arms in a flying position and you can even hang him from up above with some string to make it more authentic in his flight.

Gift Wrap the Toilet – Make your little ones laugh by gift wrapping the entire toilet bowl with Elf to the side, maybe even sitting on top of the toilet paper roll.

Hanging in a Stocking or a Boot – You could place Elf in a stocking hanging above the chimney in your home… or you could leave him hanging out of and peeking from someone’s every day boot.

Elf Leaves a Message – Using a dry erase board, write  a message and place Elf onto the side where it looks like he is presenting it to them.

Harry Potter – Throw a makeshift gray sweater over a white shirt and red-striped tie, attach a black cloak around his neck, give him rounded eyeglasses, a toothpick wand and a paintbrush broom to get Elf to go from Happy Holidays to Expecto Patronum in the blink of an eye!

TP the Christmas Tree – You could just hide Elf in your tree… or you could wrap toilet paper around the tree with Elf sitting amongst the tissue paper.

Replace Christmas Stocking with Undies – Elf is definitely the naughty one once you replace your usual stocking hanging by the fireplace and switch them out with various underwear. Oops!
