Let’s face it: fruit flies and gnats are some of the most annoying bugs ever. At first glance, it seems like these tiny little things aren’t as bothersome as they are made out to be… but they are! With summer weather in full force, you’re bound to come across a fruit fly or gnat or two. For the most part, these tiny troubles will hover around your fruit basket area as well as the waste basket. While it seems like they never can go away, that’s simply not true!

Here’s a foolproof way to get rid of fruit flies:

1. First, you’re going to need the following: apple cider vinegar, plastic saran wrap, a toothpick or some other hole poking device and a big cup or small to medium sized bowl.

2. Add about an inch deep of apple cider vinegar to the cup/bowl, then cover the cup/bowl with the plastic saran wrap.

3. After that, poke holes into the plastic wrap with either a toothpick or another hole poking device. Just make sure you don’t make the holes too big, as that can be a means for them to escape and continue to take over.

4. Place the cup/bowl where the fruit flies linger most – by the sink or the trash can are common (and effective!) places.

5. Leave the cup out for about a week. It usually takes 3 to 4 days to get all the life cycles since fruit flies reproduce so fast. Leave it out and you can almost guarantee you’ll be completely rid of them.
