Everyone has been a guest in the home of a friend or family member and you can use that experience to pull from when you have a guest in your home. You can think about what things that were done for your visit and how it impacted you. Did they make you feel welcome? Did you wish they had done things differently?
When you have a guest in your home you can take steps to make sure that they feel at home and like they are on vacation rather than feeling like they are out of place and homesick.
You can keep the guest bathroom fully stocked when you have a guest in your home. We all know how it feels to forget something we really need when we travel. You can help your guest to avoid that feeling by providing them with things that are often forgotten. Stock your guest bathroom with soaps, shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, deodorant, a new comb and a new toothbrush. Chances are they may only need one or none of these things but they will appreciate your thoughtfulness. Don’t forget to stock extra toilet paper as well as plenty of plush towels and wash cloths.
Take time to make a guest in your home feel extra special. Why not do a welcoming gift basket for them? You can set it on their freshly made bed and fill it with magazines, maybe a newspaper, snacks, bottled water, mints and a guide to your television. Everyone loves little gestures like this.
Try to find out your guests favorite snacks and meals before they come and shop accordingly so that they will have their favorites on hand as well. It is really a compliment when you have a guest in your home that they feel comfortable and content in your home. Taking these little steps will let them know they made the right choice in choosing to stay with you.
