Don’t Let Your Housework Consume You Any Longer With These Steps

Housework can consume you if you are not careful, especially if you are of a personality that tends to obsess over your house.  The thing is, housework is a never ending chore.  No matter how much you clean, there will always be more to do.  It will not stay in a constant state of cleanliness, especially if you do not live alone.

You don’t want to be a slave to housework and there are things that you can do to help if you feel that way.  I have learned this from personal experience because I tend to obsess over housework if I am not careful.  The first step is to have a stop time each day where you don’t do anything else but enjoyable activities.  It can be watching television, reading, cross-stitch or whatever pastime that you enjoy pursuing.  For me, that time is nine o’clock.  When the clock gets close to that time, I simply stop what I am doing, even if it means I am leaving dishes in the sink or a load of towels in the dryer.  It will be there the next day.

Designate certain days for certain chores.  Maybe you want to do all of your laundry on Mondays and do floors and dusting on Tuesday.  Find a time in your week that works best for you to do your household chores.  If you are tempted to do it before that time, remind yourself that Monday, or whatever day you have designated, is coming.

Take time for fun.  Don’t let your housework consume you.  Plan things you want to do.  Plan a trip to the mall with your girlfriends or having your family over for a cookout.  The point is you don’t let your housework hold you back from enjoying fun activities.  It is just a house.  It is not worth getting worked up over.
