Follow These Tips To Get The Most Out Of Your Dishwasher

A dishwasher is a modern convenience we love.  But sometimes they don’t work as well as they should.  Let’s talk about some tips to keep them working their best.  Where would we be without our dishwasher?  Most of us would spend hours a day in the kitchen, up to our elbows in soap suds.  Life is much too busy for that.

But sometimes there are problems that need to be addressed. They leave a film on the dishes or yucky crud in the bottom of our glasses.  There are ways that you can prevent those and other problems from occurring with your dishwasher.

Film is a yucky leftover that often occurs because the products you are using are not working well.  In the last few months, I had noticed that after I used my dishwasher, my dishes came out with a greasy feel to them and a less than shiny look as well.  I switched to a different dishwasher detergent and that problem went away easily.   My favorite dishwasher detergent is any of the tabs by Finish but Cascade products are good, too.

There are other culprits that can cause the greasy film.  Water temperature is an important factor to consider when you are thinking on the quality of your dishwasher’s function.  Hot water is always the best temperature to use when you use your dishwasher.  It helps to prevent the film that can form on dishes.

As far as leftover crud and yuck on your dishes, the best solution for this is to try to remove as much of the food from the dishes before loading them into your dishwasher.   Scraping the leftover food off is a good guideline to follow.  If you are still finding your dishes have the residue, it may be necessary to rinse your dishes lightly before loading them into the dishwasher.

It is sometimes helpful to use a dishwasher cleaner such as Dishwasher Magic in your dishwasher to help improve function.   Even running your dishwasher empty with detergent can help.
