Three Tips for a More Mindful and Productive Existence

There are endless pieces of advice when it comes to living a more mindful lifestyle; you can read them everywhere from your Bible to your latest issue of Glamour. Being mindful seems to be all the rage right now, even though it should be something we all strive for on a daily basis – regardless whether or not it’s “in” at the moment. Many people aren’t sure exactly what it means to be mindful, and it’s actually pretty simple. To live a mindful life means nothing more than simply to be aware and conscious of your life and your positive feelings. Here are three simple tips to help you live a bit more mindfully.

Wake Up Early

Believe it or not, one of the best ways to wake up in a good mood with positive energy and helpful thoughts is to wake with the sun. The light early in the morning is purer than it is at any other point in the day, and it has a lasting effect on your mood. When you begin the day in a peaceful setting, it helps to reflect on the rest of your day.

Make the Bed

For some reason, making the bed can change the course of your entire day. Unfortunately, too many people ignore this simple task. Making the bed signifies the start of a new day and order in your life. If all it takes is 5 minutes in the morning to make the bed and make yourself feel that the house and the day are in order, take it. It doesn’t get any simpler than this.

Smile

Even if you’re not in the mood to smile, do it anyway. When you smile, it can actually help you feel better, even if you are faking it at first. You’ve heard the saying, “Fake it til’ you make it,” and it applies to a good mood just as much as anything else.
