Beauty Products to Splurge On and to Save On

If you are anything like me, you spend (according to your husband) entirely too much money on beauty products. I remember when my husband realized that the shampoo and conditioner I’ve used for the past eight years costs $35 a bottle; I thought he was going to suggest some sort of beauty rehab for me. Fortunately, he spends an ungodly amount on his own bathroom related stuff, so we’re good. That said, you don’t need to spend a small fortune on every beauty product you own; some you should, and some you shouldn’t. It is knowing the difference that makes your life easier.

Splurge: Foundation

It’s light, bright and makes your skin look flawless. For this reason, you should spend a little extra to make sure you are getting the best possible type of foundation on the market. Spending more on this makes you look younger, healthier and much more glamorous.

Splurge: Mascara

If there is one thing I will never use on my face, it’s cheap mascara. I prefer DiorShow, and have used it for years. I cannot tell you the number of compliments I get on my eyelashes, and I cannot tell you how different it looks than cheap mascara.

Save: Eye Shadow

Eye shadow is something you wear so little of, and change your mind about colors of so often that you shouldn’t splurge on this little bit of your face. Save yourself a significant amount of money and pick up the generic brand at your local beauty store.

Save: Lip Gloss

In reality, all lip glosses are made essentially the same way, and each one looks exactly the same as you wear it. Buy it anywhere, for as little as possible and you’ll get the same look as if you’d gone for the more expensive brand.
