How to Get Rid of Dark Circles Around Your Eyes

circles

Aside from the dreaded wrinkle, it’s a woman’s worst nightmare; the dark circle.  Unfortunately, we all suffer from dark circles. One too many late nights, a long flight, a sleepless night with a new baby or a sick toddler (or a sick husband, because we all know they’re like toddlers when they don’t feel good); they all contribute to dark circles. If you, like so many of us, suffer from these unsightly dark marks, it’s time to learn how to get rid of them until your next red eye flight.

Use Two Pillows

Believe it or not, you can reduce the appearance of dark circles simply by sleeping on two pillows. How? When your head is elevated, less blood pools in your face. When you sleep on two pillows, less blood will pool and you will wake up with fewer dark circles – or significantly lighter circles.

Use Antihistamines

Whether your dark circles are from too many late nights or allergies, antihistamines can help. These will reduce the swelling in your face, the redness of your eyes and the reaction your skin has to seasonal allergies, even if you don’t think you have allergies.

A Different Diet

You can improve the blood flow in your skin if you simply add a few things to your diet. Foods rich in Omega-3 Fatty acids such as salmon and walnuts can help to improve the flow of blood to your skin. When your blood flows better, you have fewer dark circles. An ounce of dark chocolate has the same effect as these fatty foods, too. You’re welcome: You now have a new excuse to indulge in a little dark chocolate without feeling like you’re doing something wrong or breaking your diet.
