Makeup Tips for Taking the Perfect Photo

Taking the perfect photo is not as easy as it might sound, even for the exceptionally beautiful (photoshop, my friends). The perfect photo only happens every so often, and it’s usually by accident when you are least expecting it to happen. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to increase your chances of taking the perfect photo as it pertains to your makeup.

Don’t Line Your Lids

It’s okay to use eyeliner to highlight your gorgeous eyes, but don’t make the mistake of lining the entire eye. This does nothing in photos except make your eyes appear smaller and closer together, which is not a flattering look. Instead, start your liner in the center of your lid and work your way out. It helps to create a slight wing and then blend it together well so it doesn’t show up on camera like a harsh line.

Go Light

It helps to go lighter with your foundation than it does to go darker. Dark foundation will make you appear older than you are, and it has a way of highlighting any imperfections you might have, such as fine lines and wrinkles. If your foundation is a bit dark, try lightening it up a shade or two to make you look that much more gorgeous in your photos.

Go Matte

The most important thing you can do when taking professional photos is use matte makeup. Anything with shimmer is going to appear a bit strange with the flash, causing you to look a little bit more like an 80s rock star than a new millennium professional or beauty queen.

Chin Down

As an added hint, I’ll go ahead and tell you to slightly angle your chin downward when you take photos to help your face appear thinner and to eliminate the appearance of a double chin. If you have a novice photographer, do not allow him or her to encourage you to look upward in photos.
