10 Great Jobs for People Who Wake Up Super Early

I don’t know about you, but I’m a morning person. I enjoy my mornings because I’m more productive in the mornings. I like the peace and the quiet, and the promise of a new day. Mornings are one of the very rare moments in my life in which my kids are all asleep and I get some quiet time to reflect, get myself ready and get some work done. My days are often unpredictable with four kids in tow, and that means that spending the extra morning hours working is what works best for me. I’m not the only person who feels this way. Many people feel the overwhelming desire to rise early, work early and end their days early. I like that getting up at 5 am typically allows me to be finished working by early afternoon so that I can pick my kids up from school and cart them all over the world for their cheer practices, dance practices, tee ball, doctor appointments and whatever else it is that they love to do.

If you’re an early riser looking for a job that allows you to begin and end your day a bit earlier than usual, you’re going to find that it’s much less stressful than you think. Whereas many people feel that working regular hours is most common way to work, it’s not always the case. I can provide you 10 amazing examples of careers that will work well for you if you love to wake up early.

Newsroom Assistant

This is a career that beings in the morning. Typically, you’ll begin very early in the morning to prep for the day ahead, work an 8 hour day and go home around lunch time. It’s a nice gig for those who can get it, and it’s a very fast paced job, too. That makes it more exciting and enjoyable for many.

Fish Broker

Do you love to eat fish when you go out, but not catch them? This might be a good job for you. You’ll be out early in the morning peddling freshly caught fish to local restaurants, acting as a sort of mediator between the men who catch the fish and the locations that cook it up to serve to their patrons. The hours are very early – typically around 2 am, but you will be finished by breakfast and able to do as you please the rest of the day.

Newspaper Delivery Person

It’s not the most exciting job in the world, but it’s one that leaves your entire day free for a nap or to spend with your kids. They pay is not astronomical, but it’s doable as a secondary source of income or just a little something to help out when needed.

Baker

Those with talent in the kitchen might consider this a wonderful job. Everywhere that offers baked goods needs someone to come in during the earliest hours of the morning to help prepare and bake the amazing food that will be offered to customers come opening. Just know, however, that you’ll need exceptional willpower for this one. After all, baked goods smell amazing and it’s hard to resist the temptation that comes along with what’s being offered.

Garbage Collector

Listen; no one wants to spend the day collecting trash, but it’s a good job. It does not require any education, it does not require any special skill. It requires you show up very early in the morning and work a few hours. It also pays quite well, as it should. After all, who wants to have a job that requires smelling and dealing with trash all day long without appropriate compensation?

Postal Service Carrier

This is a job with a fairly decent income, and it begins early in the morning and ends much earlier in the day. It’s not difficult, it’s not particularly stressful and it’s a great job for those who need it. Many people take on this job after they retire or when they are tired of working in an office with other people answering phones and doing things that involve being present in one place all day long.

Radio Morning Show Host

Everyone loves morning radio hosts the best. They talk the most, have the most hilarious conversations and they are the most entertaining. And they start their days quite early. The other perks of this job include free concert and event tickets, local fame and a few others that make it worth it to get up this early in the morning.

Writer

Being a writer allows you to work when you feel the need. As long as the work is done, no one cares if you write it at 2 in the morning or 2 in the afternoon. That’s the perk of my job. While I like structure and I don’t care to leave things undone, I do like the concept of being able to get up early and work, stop when I need to get my kids up and ready for school and resume writing when I get home. It’s flexible, and it’s perfect for me.

Hotel Check-in Clerk

This is one job you could do anytime of the day, but most people don’t want to take the early hours. If you’re an early riser and you don’t mind accommodating the guests that show up in the middle of the night or very early hours of the morning, this could be an amazing job for you. You can sit in an air conditioned lobby, work infrequently and really have a nice time at work enjoying some peace and quiet if that’s your thing.

Pilot or Flight Attendant

Both jobs are about the same in terms of time if you fly early, but both require a different skill set. Since they do have the same hours, however, we thought we’d include them as one job. Choosing early morning flights means that you have a pretty good schedule as far as your flights are concerned, which makes it possible for you not only to have great hours but also to see the world. This is a job for those who aren’t all that particular about being home every single night, and it’s a very unique experience not too many people get to have.
