Dress For Casual Friday With Success and Style

Let’s start by defining Casual Friday.  Casual Friday is when employers allow their employees to dress down on a Fridays, either as a kindness to their employees or as a fundraiser, where the employee pays a small fee for the priviledge that usually goes toward a good cause.

Everyone has a different definition of what is appropriate attire for Casual Friday.  Some feel it is acceptable to wear ratty jeans and old, comfortable t-shirts.  Some feel that a polo and khakis are the only way to go.

The truth is that while everyone has a different thought line on this subject, there are some universal guidelines that when followed will help ensure you dress for Casual Friday with success and style.

First and foremost, you want to find out what your company has to say on the subject and follow their rules and requests on the subject.

After finding out the specifics, if there are any, you can begin to have fun with putting together outfits for Casual Friday.  After all, Casual Friday is fun; it’s a break from the mundane and the beginning to your weekend.

When choosing outfits for Casual Friday, always err on the side of being overdressed instead of underdressed.  You can go casual and still look good.  Opt for always safe khakis or a tasteful skirt set with playful sandals instead of heels.

Jeans are not necessarily off-limits but do try to choose jeans that are on the dressy side.  In general, dark denim looks more dressy than lighter washes.  Trouser jeans are a wonderful staple for your Casual Friday wardrobe.

Fridays are the time to have fun with accessories.  You can put away your understated pearls in favor of more fun, quirky pieces.

Whatever you choose to wear, make sure it is neatly pressed to present a polished and professional look.  With these tips in mind, you are sure to dress for Casual Friday with a sharp style that will be the envy of your workplace.
