Date Ideas for Everyone

Date night takes on a whole new meaning for couples with children. No longer is it anything that can be done at the spur of the moment; it requires careful planning, phone calls to make arrangements for the kids and a lot of thought. You don’t get much free time with kids, which means you need to plan the perfect date night because the next one may be a few weeks away. For my husband and I, date night means getting dressed up, heading out to a fabulous restaurant and ordering a decadent bottle of our favorite red wine. We don’t get to do this often because of the kids, so when we do it, we do it big. However, date night can be stressful for those who have a budget. With that in mind, here are several great date night ideas that won’t break the bank.

Dinner and a Movie…No Thanks!

Dinner and a movie is always a fun way to spend date night, but it’s also expensive. Trade in your date night for a date morning and head to brunch and a matinee. Sunday brunch at many restaurants includes bottomless mimosas and bloody marys, which means you will spend the same for your entire meal and drinks as you would on a moderately priced bottle of wine at dinner. The savings at the theater will be significant as well.

Cozy At Home Dates

When the weather is cool or it’s hot as can be but dark and rainy outside make some hot chocolate, add some marshmallows and curl up on the couch with a romantic comedy. Wear your pajamas and ignore the world as you enjoy the warmth of your hot chocolate and one another’s company.

Picnic

A gorgeous day is a waste if you’re not outside. Grab a blanket and a basket and head to the supermarket. Pick up some cheese and crackers and a bottle of wine and head to the park, a lake or anywhere else that’s lovely and enjoy a picnic with one another.
