Gwen Stefani Signs On to Join ‘The Voice’

Singer, songwriter and fashion designer Gwen Stefani is about to add another major role to her name: singing competition coach. The No Doubt front-woman has reportedly signed on to join the coaches panel on the upcoming seventh season of NBC’s hit show The Voice, TMZ has reported. Gwen, whose “contract is now done,” will be replacing a currently pregnant Christina Aguilera and is set to begin filming the next season in June alongside fellow coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams. The upcoming seventh season of The Voice will air in the fall.

TMZ also reports that NBC had asked Christina to stay on the show throughout the duration of her pregnancy, but she apparently declined the network’s offer. Gwen has allegedly only signed a one-year contract with the show. Christina is set to return and her claim her spot back on The Voice the following season after the birth of her second child, a baby girl with fiancé Matt Rutler.

Gwen isn’t the only new addition to the show’s upcoming season: as reported earlier, Pharrell Williams is also joining the panel, after being tapped to replace Cee Lo Green. This also won’t be the first time Gwen and Pharrell will have worked together: the two collaborated on Gwen’s solo 2004 hit, “Hollaback Girl.” Pharrell even brought Gwen onstage as a surprise guest during his set at last weekend’s Coachella festival to perform their song together.
