And the Nominees Are…Oscar Nominations 2014 are Official

Glamorous dresses, beautiful and priceless jewels, and a red carpet so hot you won’t be able to stand it; it can only mean it’s time for the Oscars. This year’s Oscars are slated to be more fabulous than ever before. With a host as hilarious and well-liked as Ellen DeGeneres and a red carpet sure to impress, the anticipation of the recognition of this year’s best of the best is building.

The handsome Chris Hemsworth and the President of XXXXXXX Cheryl Boone Isaacs made Oscar history this morning announcing the nominees for the upcoming Oscar ceremony. Each of the nominees were woken early – if they were sleeping at all – as the announcement was officially made at 5:43 am PST. Phones were ringing early this morning as this year’s best actress, actor and supporting role actors and actresses (and so many, many others) were notified of their nomination.

This year’s nominees hope to join the ranks of previous winners in their specified categories such as Joanne Woodward, Liza Minnelli, John Wayne, Marlon Brando, Jane Fonda, Sandra Bullock and so many more. This year’s winners will take over the roles of Best actress, supporting actress, actor, supporting actor and picture from last year’s winners. This includes Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway, Daniel Day-Lewis, Christoph Waltz and Argo.

While most of the world focuses intently on the red carpet as their favorite part of the Oscar ceremony, those same people will tune in to see just how funny host Ellen DeGeneres really is (and she is funny). She’ll make fun of Oscar nominees, herself, and probably anything and everything she can on live television, making it another opening monologue to remember.

Now that the nominees have been announced, who do you predict will take home the Oscar this year and were you surprised to see/not to see one of your favorites from the past year on the nomination list?

Here are the main nominees. For the complete list of 2014 Oscars nominations you can check out our TV site.
