‘Star Wars’ Sequels Cast Revealed: Harrison Ford to Reprise Role

When it comes to Star Wars, there will always be talk and hearsay about the upcoming projects, aspects ranging from the storyline to the cast. Rumors are always abuzz in the Star Wars fandom and sometimes it’s hard to distinguish the reality from the rumors. While not always the case, this time the rumors are true: the original Star Wars lineup – which includes Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill – will reprise their roles in the upcoming Episode VII.

The notoriously secretive director J.J. Abrams has finally revealed the cast for the upcoming new Star Wars sequel with some not-so-new cast members via Twitter.

“We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII,” Abrams said in a statement. “It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again.”

Veterans Ford, Fisher and Hamill are back to don their Star Wars garb for the first time in more than 30 years. They will also be joined with some very familiar faces, including Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and Kenny Baker (R2-D2)  – insert Chewbacca’s signature (excited) growl here.  Aside from the old timers, the new sequels will also see some pretty impressive newbies, with the likes of John Boyega, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley, Andy Serkis and Max von Sydow. Excited, we are.

Star Wars: Episode VII will hit theaters in December 2015.
