The Upside to Running a Blog
Think that running an online blog is just for angsty teenagers? Wrong! Blogs can be a great thing for everyone regardless of age, sex/gender, social status, and any other category you could try to fit yourself into that makes you think you can’t have a blog. I follow the blogs of teenagers, adult mothers, and a 50-something year old vintage fashionista.
Got a passion? Start a blog about it! If you love clothes you keep a blog to record your favourite outfits, share your most-well loved brands, and give tips on how to save money shopping and how to rock a certain style. If you’re a writer, blogging can be a great way to share your work and get feedback as well as give advice to other writers. If you’re into movies or books you could run a review blog. Or you could start up a food blog to share all your best recipes and cooking tips and tricks.
You could even just run a personal life blog. I see tons of blogs run by mothers who are chronicling their life with their families, complete with charming photos of their kids and tips on keeping your house and busy life schedule organized.
Blogging can be a great way to make connections with people all across the world. Sites like Blogspot and WordPress are great and easy to use platforms for your blogging ventures. I’m not sure about WordPress, but I know that Blogspot even has an option to download your blog onto your computer so that you can save your posts, and even print them out to share with your family later on in life. Blogging is a great way to keep a digital scrap book of your life.
So when you think “blog” don’t think angry teenagers complaining about their lives. Because while there is no shortage of that, blogging has evolved into so much more. It’s a great way to socialize and meet other people with similar interests and to indulge your passions.
