With awards show season in our midst, we can’t help but focus on the most important aspect of the numerous awards shows: the red carpet – namely, the fashion on the carpet! From various designers to choose from, celebrities really make a statement based on which designer they went with as well as the frock they decided to walk the red carpet in.

Here are 5 of the most talked about iconic red carpet dresses:

1. Jennifer Lopez in Versace at the 2000 Grammys

Arguably the most talked about dresses in awards show history, J.Lo definitely had tongues wagging in her see-through, plunging neckline number, leaving everyone curiously wondering if she forgot the rest of her dress.

2. Celine Dion in Christian Dior at the 1999 Oscars

Celine had heads turning (literally!) in an all-white Dior backwards tuxedo, with people wondering if she’d accidentally put her outfit on backwards.

3. Bjork in Marjan Pejoski at the 2001 Grammys

The eclectic Icelandic singer caused quite the stir when she wore what appeared to be a couture (and apparently very flexible) swan on her body, calling it a dress. It would be the go-to costume for Halloween time for years to come!

4. Angelina Jolie in Versace at the 2012 Oscars

Angie’s black Atelier Versace dress had a slit so high, her leg was playing peekaboo – and EVERYONE noticed. The frock, combined with her fierce, attitude-filled pose made way for numerous memes and even spawned Twitter account @AngiesRightLeg.

5. Hilary Swank in Guy Laroche at the 2005 Oscars

Fresh from getting buff for her flick Million Dollar Baby, Hil changed the game as she decided to flaunt her curvacious backside rather than a low-cut front.
