Designer Erin Fetherston Joins with Nordstrom for Bridesmaid Dress Line

Francois Nars "Makeup Your Mind: Express Yourself" Book Celebration

How many of you have had to purchase a (usually expensive) bridesmaid gown that ends up collecting dust in the back of your closet? Even the prettiest ones often are hard to re-wear because they just scream “bridesmaid.” Plus, you have all the dresses you got to choose yourself that show off your personal style that you may prefer to wear to a dressy event. Bridesmaids everywhere now have a new reason to rejoice!

American designer Erin Fetherston has teamed up with national retailer Nordstrom to launch an exclusive bridal line. Due to hit stores in August, the Erin Fetherston x Nordstrom Weddings capsule collection will be composed of 22 dress styles, both in newly designed silhouettes and in reissues of the designer’s favorite pieces from the archives of her collections. The new line is reported to embody Fetherston’s feminine and flirty aesthetic, which the Parsons graduate has become known for throughout her years of designing.

The NYC-based designer may have been inspired to do the collection after designing her own bridal gown for her recent wedding to musician Gabe Saporta. Fetherston said it felt natural to apply her experiences as both a bride and a designer to help design dresses that will meet a bridesmaids’ needs.

“It’s refreshing to bring more of a fashion perspective to that world,” Fetherston told Women’s Wear Daily. “It’s an easy crossover because my own sensibility is superfeminine and romantic, and I have a softer ethereal sensibility.”

Nordstrom’s wanted to incorporate that designer flair to making clients happy with their selections. The department store’s national weddings director, Shea Jensen, described the chain store’s dedication to offer stylish looks for bridesmaids. “We’ve heard from our customer that it’s very important that the bridesmaids complement the bride and that they can wear the dresses again.”

Erin Fetherston x Nordstrom Weddings pieces will range in price from $225 to $695, but are meant to be classic pieces that can easily be reworn.
