The Five Best Dressed at The Emmys

NBC's "66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards" - Show

The stars aligned at last night’s celeb-studded 66th Annual Primetime Emmy’s, particularly if you are a fan of the night’s big winners Breaking Bad and Modern Family. The two shows dominated in the drama and comedy awards, respectively. The awards show, hosted by Late Night’s Seth Meyers, was heavy on the comedy and the gorgeous gowns.

The Red Carpet shined as television’s leading ladies and gents came out dressed to the nines. The colors that trended heavily on dresses were silver, white, and shades of reds and pinks. Beading and metallic details were prominent as well. Despite the fact that the cameras were intent to show all shades of spray tan, most celebrities in attendance looked fantastic, and chose polished, perfectly fitted gowns paired with great styling choices in hair and makeup.

Here are the women who wowed us the most during last night’s entertaining event.

Julia Roberts

The ultimate Pretty Woman was part of this year’s Emmys because of her nominated supporting role in HBO’s The Normal Heart. Part of last night’s running joke was how many movie stars are taking over television, and Ms. Roberts, 46, was definitely pinpointed in a joke as being too big for TV. Despite not being an Emmy winner last night, she was definitely a red carpet one in her dark blue, long-sleeved number by Elie Saab Haute Couture. The interesting, oversized beads added fun detail and whimsy to the short dress. She also looked beautifully blonde.

Sofia Vergara

The Modern Family multi-year nominee for Supporting Actress always does awards show right. With her exceptional good looks and body that is arguably the best in the world, it is hard for her to look anything less than outstanding. But she also chooses beautiful gowns. Last night’s white-hot, body-hugging Roberto Cavalli gown with metallic silver detail was shown off in an amazing way when Sofia was spun around on a revolving piece (like a chick at a car show) during a speech by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences chief Bruce Rosenblum. It was one of the funniest bits of the night thanks to her comedic skills.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

The Veep star and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series winner (who also won the last two years) was a total knockout in a stunning custom gown by her go-to designer, Carolina Herrera. The raspberry draped dress featured a twisted and draped halter neckline, a cinched waist with contrasting skinny belt, and an open back with criss-cross leather straps. The leather halter and belt added a modern, high-fashion touch to the 53-year old’s look. The star’s straight hairstyle also looked sexy and sophisticated.

January Jones

The Mad Men actress, 36, absolutely stunned in a gorgeous high-low Prabal Gurung red gown. The voluminous red gown stopped just above the ankles, giving a perfect view of her sexy black strappy heels that matched the black accents on the bodice. Her red lips and black eyeliner makeup and pretty pulled-back hair went with the outfit perfectly as well.

Debra Messing

The long-time television leading lady looked beautiful last night in a navy Angel Sanchez gown which featured criss crossing sheer accents throughout the floor-length gown. The 46-year-old actress attended the awards show to promote her new NBC show The Mysteries of Laura and to present an award alongside nominee and winner Jim Parsons.
