Five Things You Didn’t Know About Tory Burch

FORTUNE Most Powerful Women Summit - Day 3

Most of us fashion-conscious folks are quite familiar with Tory Burch – or at the very least we know about her fashionable clothing items. While we may know a thing or two about the designer, we don’t know all there is to know about Tory. Sure, we know the basics like that she is a mother, a successful fashion designer and the owner of her own name brand. But there’s a lot more to the face behind the name and some of these facts just might even shock you!

Here are five things you probably didn’t know about fashion mogul Tory Burch:

1. Unlike many of her fashion designer peers, Tory Burch majored in art history in college, and not in design or business management as one might expect.

2. Her brand’s logo isn’t the typical luxury logo – it’s her initials close together as well as a circle form as a tribute for Burch’s love for Morocco.

3. Her most successful and valuable product, the Tory Burch Reva flats, are actually named after her mother.

4. Aside from fashion, another one of her passions is her concern for social responsibility. The Tory Burch brand supports the independent foundation called the Tory Burch Foundation. The organization is dedicated to the well-being of single mothers in different communities, in order for them to learn to be an entrepreneur and giving them (and their kids) a great chance and opportunity to live a better life.

5. There are over 100 Tory Burch stores around the world, including locations in Europe, Asia and Paris.
