What to Look Out for When Buying Discount Jewelry

jewelry

How amazing is it that everywhere you look someone is selling discount jewelry that seems absolutely perfect and amazing? It’s nice; yes. But it’s not all it’s cracked up to be in every instance. For example, sometimes jewelry advertised as discount (or cheap, as we like to call it) it just as great as the stuff you buy full price. Other times, however, it’s a sad version of the good stuff. Since most of us are a little bit particularly about our jewelry and not interested in spending money on pieces that aren’t real, won’t last and aren’t quality, this could be a problem. Before you get suckered into spending money on a piece of jewelry that seems too good to be true, know that it probably is. However, do your research. If you know what to be on the lookout for, you might actually save yourself money or actually find a piece of jewelry that’s genuinely of good quality and not too expensive.

Low Gold-Carat

The lowest quality gold in the US is 10k. If you find gold that’s 10k, just know that it’s the lowest possible quality possible to be considered real gold, and it’s not very valuable. To ensure you are actually getting a good deal on jewelry, it should have a much higher carat as far as the gold is concerned.

Small Rings

We aren’t talking size as far as the gem or the size of a woman’s finger. We are talking about ring bands that are very thin. What this means is that your ring is made with less material so that manufacturers can keep the cost down. When this happens, the ring is more likely to break, bend or become too weak to wear.

Poor Quality Stones

When a gemstone is not of high quality, it’s not as pretty. It has imperfections and flaws that make it more likely to break, and it also makes it more likely to become dull very quickly. This is one of the reasons some jewelry is so cheap. The gems are very low quality and they can’t be used to make nicer jewelry. It’s not a good piece that will hold value.
