Ten Shoes That Never Go Out of Style

shoes

For a woman, shoes are one of the most important things in life. Ask most any woman what she’d save if her home caught fire in the middle of the night and she’d tell you her family, her animals and her shoes (hopefully in that particular order of importance). Shoes are so much more than a simple accessory. Shoes are defining. They complete any outfit. They provide confidence and self-assurance to women. They make women feel beautiful and unstoppable. A great pair of shoes does something for a woman that no one or nothing else in the world can do; and these 10 shoes will never go out of style.

Black Pumps

The classic black pump is the shoe that will never, ever go out of style. This shoe is a closed-toe, closed-heel shoe with a pointed toe. It’s got a modest heel of at least 3 inches and it’s free of print and/or design. This shoe is so classic because it goes with everything. Wear it with a pair of jeans and a tee shirt, a little black dress, a suit or a skirt. Wear it during the day or in the evening. It’s every woman’s go to shoe for an elegant and sophisticated look. Just make sure yours are high-end so they’ll last forever, too.

Ballet Flats

Ballet flats are the classic casual shoe. They go so well with jeans, capris, skirts and dresses. They’re perfect because they’re comfortable and easy to get around in. They’re great for brunch, shopping and spending time with your kids. They’re so versatile you can wear them to work, play, church or anywhere in between. The perfect pair is a neutral color. Chanel makes a gorgeous off-white pair with a black toe and the intertwining “C” logo, which makes them elegant and chic; perfect for any occasion. They’re a bit pricey at over $1500, but they’ll last for many years.

Nude Pumps

Nude pumps are just like black pumps; they’re classic, chic and elegant. These shoes go with just about anything and have an added bonus. They make anyone’s legs look longer, leaner and sexier. They also make women look thinner and taller. These shoes are best worn with dresses that show off a little leg. The perfect pair has a closed toe, a bit of a platform and a killer heel – less than four inches and you might as well stick with those ballet flats. They’re classic enough to look good with anything, but stylish enough to make you feel good.

Riding Boots

Riding boots are the perfect fall and winter accessory. They take any outfit from drab to fab in a matter of seconds. They’re best worn over leggings with a long, oversized sweater or with skinny jeans. You can pair them with a tee and blazer for a cool, casual day of running errands or pair them with an oversized sweater, scarf and hat for a fun and carefree look. Choose a pair in either black or cognac to make them as timeless as possible. Tory Burch makes a great pair of timeless cognac riding boots perfect for years to come.

Hunter Wellington Rain Boots

Since we’re talking about shoes that just never go out of style, how could we not include a pair that have been worn on the feet of women all over the world since 1856? Hunter Wellington boots are the perfect rain boot. Since rain boots aren’t really fashion forward, it makes sense that these stylish boots are included on the list – and it also probably explains why they’ve been around so long. They’re tall boots in bold, bright, fun colors that are made for wearing when the weather is less than perfect (so you don’t ruin those Manolo Blahniks).

Loafers

Whether you’re a man or a woman, loafers are never out of style. They’re the perfect preppy casual shoe, especially if you choose pair that are high-end designer quality such as Gucci or Ferragamo. Women’s loafers offer a bit of a masculine flair, giving women a chic but no-nonsense type of look for the most stylish look. Men tend to stick with more neutral colors, but women can go for bold colors such as reds and blues and wear them for decades without every losing an ounce of elegance. Remember; the more expensive they are now, the longer they’ll last.

Driving Shoes

Okay, so there are probably a number of men wondering, “What on earth is a driving shoe? Aren’t all shoes for driving? Why does she need a special shoe for driving?” at the mention of driving shoes. However, men do not understand the classic style of a driving shoe (especially if it’s from Tod’s). From the top, they’re gorgeous loafers. From the bottom, they have grips. They are actually designed to make driving easier for women who have a pair of strappy stilettos to wear, but they’re great for day-to-day wear as well. They’ve been around for nearly a century.

Leopard Pumps

Perhaps leopard print is not for everyone, but that doesn’t mean that it’s going out of style anytime in the near future. It’s a print that, when worn correctly, can be elegant and chic – it can also be tacky and cheap if you’re not careful where, when and how you wear it. To keep these gorgeous leopard pumps from looking cheap and trashy, go high-end. The best way to ensure they are elegant and timeless is to buy designer. Allow me to recommend the Decollete by Christian Louboutin. Not only will the red soles make you feel all tingly inside, they’re made well so they’ll always look good.

D’Orsay Pumps by Manolo Blahnik

Sex and the City brought a lot to the world; including years of weekly entertainment, Mr. Big and two fabulous movies. However, the show also brought about the rising fame that is now standard for Manolo Blahnik, the high-end shoe designer that we all love. After Carrie Bradshaw made them famous, just about every woman bought at least one pair and the D’Orsay’s are the most popular. They’re the perfect dress shoe; with an open toe, closed back, open side and that gorgeous jewel on top. You’ll find that these well-made shoes are a pair you can wear for decades to come.

Simple Sandals

There is always a time in which a pair of gorgeous, simple, flat sandals is necessary. It’s called spring and summer. They need to be dressy enough to look good with a sundress but casual enough to wear for long periods of time during the day. The perfect pair does not look like a flip flop. It might resemble the concept, but it’s made of great leather, a beautiful design and it has a much longer toe and a few additional straps. These gorgeous shoes (think Tory Burch or Michael Kors) make anything casually elegant and never out of style.
