One of the biggest issues many couples face when planning their wedding is who to invite to the affair. With issues such as budget, size of your venue, cost of dinner per person and everything in between, not all couples are able to invite everyone they know. There are restraints. As much as you might want to invite all the people you desire, sometimes you have to make a choice. And sometimes you simply don’t know who to invite; who is mandatory and who is optional. Fortunately, it’s your day, which makes everyone optional. But if you’d like a little advice regarding invitations, here it is.

Coworkers

It is completely optional to invite coworkers to your wedding. It’s not required. You are not obligated to invite them. Of course, the final decision is yours. However, if you don’t want to invite them but feel guilty; don’t. More often than not your fiancé doesn’t know them very well, your friends don’t know them very well, and even you may not know them well outside of the office.

Friends of Parents

If it’s someone you’ve known your entire life and practically grew up with as extended family, you’ll need to invite them. However, if your parents want to invite their club friends you’ve met once or twice in a casual setting, it’s your choice. You’re not required to invite virtual strangers.

Plus Ones

No one is required to have an additional plus one on their invitation. If you don’t have the space in your budget or venue and you don’t want to spend the day with random people you’ve never met, don’t feel guilty. It’s up to you whether or not you invite your single friends to invite a date. Additionally, you can feel free to pick and choose whom you’d like to offer the exception of a plus one to.
