His Text Messages Decoded

Ah, the text message. The little thing that has women reading too much into every word her significant other writes. Was he joking? Is he being serious? Did he mean to send this to me? Is that criticism or sarcasm I hear in this tone of text? There’s simply too much to think about when it comes to text messages, except of course, that his text means exactly what it says without needing any additives. If you find yourself wondering what he really means, here are a few clues.

Text: Gotta cancel tonight. Work thing in the morning.

What it means: He’s not interested. If he’s putting work before sex, he’s probably not interested. Most men are happy to see you tonight and go to work in the morning, they don’t cancel just because of that.

Text: My sister-in-law has the same shirt you wore last weekend to dinner. Weird, right?

What it means: I will find any excuse in the book to send you a text and keep in contact with you, and I pay attention to you because you are so awesome and amazing, and I really want to see you right now, but I’m trying not to look too interested.

Text: Watching the game with the guys. Wanna stop by?

What it means: He really likes you. Guys don’t typically intrude on guy time or sports for just anyone, and the fact that he wants you to hang out with his friends and divert his attention away from his favorite sport is BIG news.

Text (at 2 am): You up? Wanna come over?

What it means: I don’t think you’re important enough to want to spend time with during normal waking hours and I’ve probably had some drinks, but you’re an awesome booty call. That’s about it though.
