Lessons Romantic Comedies Teach Us

All those romantic comedies you make your husband watch with you can actually teach you a very valuable lesson. If you happen to be a single lady who recently went through a break up or you have a friend who just can’t seem to get lucky in love, you can help her get over her heartbreak by showing her these romantic comedies and teaching her the lessons that come with them.

Take Time to Grieve

One thing you learn from romantic comedies is that it’s okay to take a little time to mourn the loss of a relationship. The actors and actresses in these romantic comedies swear off love for a while and then end up meeting the person who is absolutely perfect for them. The point is, while you cannot guarantee your own happy ending in the span of 2 hours, you can guarantee that taking a little time to mourn is okay.

Take Inventory

It actually helps to sit down with your girlfriends, a bottle of wine and a pint of ice cream and analyze what went wrong in your relationship. If you aren’t sure why things ended or when they started to go south, doing this can help you gain a little perspective and possibly prevent yourself from making the same mistakes in the future.

Getting Rid of Momentos Works

It’s okay to want to keep his old shirt because it smells like him, but don’t. Get rid of it. You can’t get rid of your memories (think Jim Carrey in “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”) but you can get rid of things that make you think of your ex on a regular basis, such as his shirt or his razor out of your bathroom. It helps to purge. Think of everything you get rid of as a weight being lifted from your shoulders.
