Make Changes and Learn How to Save Time

We could all use a few extra minutes (hours, whatever) each day. We have so much on our plates that we often forget to sit down, take five, and take a deep breath. And even if we remembered to do that, we’d probably skip it anyway since we don’t deem it that important (it is that important). We are overworked, overtired, and over-stimulated. To ease up a little on life and give yourself a few extra minutes each day – to relax – here are a few every day tips to save time that you should implement immediately.

Make a List

Before you go to bed each night, make a list of the things that have to get done the following day. Place them in order of importance. When you wake up in the morning you will have your list, which is your jumping off-point, and your mind will already be aware of your daily activities, which will prevent you from becoming overwhelmed as you see your list.

Learn to Delegate

Of course you can do it all faster and better than your husband, but sometimes you just have to let it go. If he can swing by the store on the way home from work and pick up a few things, and then pick up dry cleaning on his way home from that, let him. If he can take the kids to their next play date so you can get a little work done, let him. Delegating makes you a better leader.

Don’t Procrastinate

Putting things off until the last minute only makes it more difficult for you to get them done. You add unnecessary stress to your life, which is not a good idea. Get it all done now and you might actually find you have some free time later.

Limit Interruptions

You can’t help how many times a day you are interrupted to change a dirty diaper, retrieve a lost toy, or play an impromptu game of peek-a-boo with your little ones, but you can limit other interruptions, such as your phone and email. Put your phone away so you aren’t tempted to check your texts and emails every three minutes. Set aside 10 minutes every two hours to check these items and reply to them.
