October Activities the Entire Family Will Enjoy

October is quickly approaching, which means one thing; it’s time to bust out the pumpkins and decorate for the fall season. This Sunday, the 22nd, is the official first day of fall (I say official because we all know fall really starts the second you can pull up to Starbucks and order a pumpkin spice latte). While most of the country – except us here in Florida – will begin to experience cooler temps, gorgeous evenings and the changing color of leaves, the mood will improve and the atmosphere will change. Here are three things you must do this October to begin the fall and holiday seasons.

Head to the Pumpkin Patch

It might sound like something for children, but it doesn’t matter if you have them or not. The pumpkin patch is the best place to go in October. Put on your skinny jeans, boots and sweaters (or your shorts, tank tops and flip flops if you live in my neighborhood) and head to the pumpkin patch to take adorable photos, pick the perfect pumpkin and even take a hayride.

Carve Pumpkins

Now that you’ve found the perfect pumpkin, invite your favorite people over for an evening of pumpkin carving. Make it a competition to see whose carving is the most creative and the most fantastic. It’s a great way to unleash your inner creativity and have a little friendly competition between friends or families.

Have a Bon Fire

Gather those dead leaves and pinecones or whatever you can find and have a bon fire – or just stick it all in your fire pit and sit around the fire with a warm cup of hot cocoa and the makings for s’mores. A fire, friends and melted marshmallows with chocolate and graham crackers are an October tradition you just have to bring into your home this year.
